It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When one of you stands for prayer, let him not spit in front of him, for he is conversing with Allah as long as he is in his prayer place. Nor should he spit to his right, for there is an angel on his right. Rather, he should spit to his left or under his foot and bury it." In the narration of Abu Saʿid (May Allah be pleased with him): "Under his left foot."

ف: اس حدیث میں ارشاد ہے، نمازی جب نماز کیلئے کھڑا ہو تو تعظیم قبلہ کی خاطر اپنے سامنے نہ تھوکے اور اپنے سیدھے جانب بھی نہ تھوکے کیونکہ سیدھے جانب ایک فرشتہ رہتا ہے البتہ اپنے بائیں جانب یا پیر کے نیچے تھوکے۔ واضح ہو کہ سامنے اور سیدھے جانب تھوکنے کی ممانعت عام ہے خواہ وہ مسجد میں نماز ادا کر رہا ہو یا مسجد کے سوا کسی اور جگہ نماز پڑھ رہا ہو، ہر دو حالتوں میں نماز کے موقع پر سامنے اور سیدھے جانب تھوکنا ممنوع ہے۔ نمازی اگر مسجد میں ہو تو خواہ وہ بائیں جانب تھوکے یا قدم کے نیچے تھوکے دونوں حالتوں میں تھوک کو اپنے کپڑے میں لے لے، اور اگر مسجد کے سوا کسی اور جگہ ہو تو اپنی بائیں جانب یا پیر کے نیچے زمین پر تھوک سکتا ہے۔ (مرقات)۔
