It is narrated from Abdullah ibn Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'What is between the navel and the knee is part of the private area (awrah).'" [Narrated by Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak]
In another narration by Al-Daraqutni from the Prophet (peace be upon him): "And what is below the navel is part of the private area (awrah)."
