Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "They were caught in rain 1 on the day of Eid, so the Prophet (ﷺ) led them in the Eid prayer in the mosque."

(1) The statement: "They were caught in rain..." The original practice of the Prophet (ﷺ) was to go out to the prayer ground (Musalla). He did not pray the Eid prayer in his mosque, despite its honor, except once due to the excuse of rain. This is elaborated upon by Ibn al-Qayyim in Zad al-Ma’ad and Al-Qastallani in Mawahib al-Laduniyyah, among others. This is mentioned in ‘Umdat al-Ri’ayah.

(۱) قوله : أصابهم مطر إلخ والأصل فيه أن النبي ﷺ كان يخرج إلى المصلى ولم يُصل صلاة العيد في مسجده مع شرفه إلا مرة بعذر المطر، كما بسطه ابن القيم في زاد المعاد والقسطلاني في مواهب اللدنية وغيرهما. كذا في عمدة الرعاية».

ف۔ واضح ہو کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی عادت شریفہ یہ تھی کہ آپ نماز عید کے لئے عیدگاہ کو تشریف لے جایا کرتے تھے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مسجد نبوی میں جس کی بڑی فضیلت ہے صرف ایک مرتبہ عذر کی وجہ سے نماز عید ادا فرمائی ہے۔ اس سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ جو حضرات بلا عذر نماز عید کے لئے عیدگاہ نہیں جاتے اور اپنے محلوں میں الگ الگ مسجدوں میں عید کی نماز پڑھ لیتے ہیں یہ خلاف سنت ہے۔ اگرچہ محلہ کی مسجد میں نماز عید ادا ہو جاتی ہے مگر ایسا کرنے والے تارک سنت مؤکدہ ہیں۔ (عمدة الرعایہ)۔
