It is narrated from Amr ibn Shu'aib, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (ﷺ) heard a group of people disputing about the Qur'an. He said: "Those who came before you were destroyed by this. They used to strike parts of the Book of Allah against one another. The Book of Allah was revealed to confirm what came before it. So do not contradict some of it with others. Whatever you know of it, speak about it, and what you do not know, leave it to the scholars."
