Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Among the supplications of Dawud was: 'O Allah, I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and deeds that will bring me to Your love. O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than myself, my wealth, my family, and cold water.'" The Prophet (ﷺ) added when mentioning Dawud: "He was the most devout of mankind."
