Hadith 4561

Hilal ibn Yasaf narrated: “We were with Salim ibn Ubaid when a man from the group sneezed and said, ‘Peace be upon you.’ Salim said to him, ‘Upon you and your mother.’ The man seemed upset and said, ‘I only said what the Prophet (ﷺ) said. A man sneezed in his presence and said, ‘Peace be upon you,’ and the Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘Upon you and your mother. When one of you sneezes, let him say, “Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds,” and let the one responding say, “May Allah have mercy on you,” and let him say, “May Allah forgive us and you.”’”
