Note 1

(1) His statement: eat with their tongues, etc., meaning they make their tongues a means of their sustenance, like a cow that cannot distinguish between moist and thorny, sweet and bitter, but consumes everything with its tongue. Likewise, these people use their tongues as a means to their sustenance, not distinguishing between truth and falsehood, or lawful and unlawful. Acceptable speech is that which meets the need, aligns inwardly and outwardly, and conforms to the Sharia. As cited from Al-Mirqat.
