Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man passed by the Prophet (ﷺ) with people around him. A man among them said: “I love this one for Allah.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Have you informed him?” He said: “No.” He said: “Go to him and inform him.” He went and informed him. He said: “May He for Whom you love me love you.” He returned and told the Prophet (ﷺ) what he said. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “You are with whom you love, and you have what you anticipated.” [Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab Al-Iman]
In At-Tirmidhi’s narration: “A person is with whom he loves, and for him what he earned 1.”

Note 1
(1) His statement: “what he earned”: Both wordings are close in intended meaning. [As stated in Al-Mirqat]
