Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while he was lying on a mat of palm fibers with no bedding between him and it, leaving marks on his side. He was leaning on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fiber. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to provide ease for your Ummah, for Persia and Rome have been given abundance, yet they do not worship Allah." He said: "Is this your concern, O son of Al-Khattab? Those are a people whose pleasures have been hastened in this worldly life." In another narration: "Are you not content that they have the world and we have the Hereafter?"
