Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Indeed, the lowest in status among the people of Paradise will be one who looks at his gardens, wives, pleasures, servants, and couches over a distance of a thousand years. 1 The most honored among them with Allah is the one who looks at His Face morning and evening.” 2 Then he recited: “Faces on that Day will be radiant, looking at their Lord” (Al-Qiyamah: 22-23).

Note 1
(1) His statement: “A distance of a thousand years,” meaning that his gardens and what is associated with them exist over a distance of a thousand years. The meaning is that his dominion spans that distance. It is said that this is a metaphor for the one in Paradise possessing what equates to a thousand years’ journey, as ownership in Paradise differs from that in this world. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)
Note 2
(2) His statement: “Morning and evening,” meaning in the morning and evening. Hence, he recommended preserving the prayers at the two ends of the day, as mentioned earlier. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)
Note 1
