Zujajat al-Masabih 5679Volume 5

English

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Jibril came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was sitting, saddened, and stained with blood from the people of Makkah’s actions. He said: “O Messenger of Allah, do you wish to see a sign?” He said: “Yes.” He looked at a tree behind him and said: “Call it.” He called it, and it came and stood before him. He said: “Order it to return.” He ordered it, and it returned. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “That suffices me 1, that suffices me.”

Note 1

that suffices me

(1) His statement: that suffices me: Meaning it is enough for me. Zayd is for emphasis or indicating repeated extraordinary events by coming and returning. The meaning: This karamah from my Lord suffices to console me for the grief I faced. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 1
