Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I was calling my mother to Islam, and she was a polytheist. I called her one day, and she said something about the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) I disliked 1. I went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) crying and said: “O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to guide Umm Abi Hurayrah.” He said: “O Allah, guide Umm Abi Hurayrah.” I left joyful at the Prophet of Allah’s prayer. When I reached the door, it was closed. My mother heard my footsteps and said: “Stay where you are, O Abu Hurayrah.” I heard the sound of water, so she bathed, put on her robe, hurried with her headscarf, opened the door, and said: “O Abu Hurayrah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.” I returned to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), crying from joy. He praised Allah and said good things.

(1) His statement: something I disliked: Meaning something he disliked from speech or disliked mentioning among people. His statement: there it was: The door added, meaning shut. His statement: my footsteps: Meaning their sound. His statement: the sound of water: Meaning its sound. His statement: hurried with her headscarf: With kasra on jīm, meaning she left her headscarf in haste. It is said: She hurried, leaving it. The meaning: She hastened to open the door after donning her clothes before wearing her headscarf. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

(۱) قوله: ما أكره أي شيئًا أكرهه من الكلام أو أكره ذكره بين الأنام. وقوله: فإذا هو أي الباب مضاف، أي مردود. وقوله: خشف قدمي أي سوتهما. وقوله: خضخضة الماء أي صوته. وقوله: وعجلت» بكسر الجيم عن خمارها أي تركت خمارها من العجلة، يقال: عجلت عنه تركته، والمعنى: أنها بادرت إلى فتح الباب بعد لبسها الثياب قبل أن تلبس خمارها التقطته من «المرقاة».

(133) قولہ: ما اكره۔ اس بات کو بولنے سے بڑھ کر کوئی چیز ناپسند نہیں کرتا یا یہ کہ میں اس کو لوگوں کے درمیان بیان کروں یہ مجھے ناپسند ہے۔ و قولہ: فاذا هو یعنی دروازہ بند تھا مجاف بھیڑا ہوا اور بند۔ و قولہ: خشف قدمى۔ یعنی میرے دونوں پاؤں کی آہٹ۔ قوله: خضخضة الماء. یعنی پانی کی آواز۔ قوله: وعجلت : جیم کو زیر ہے عن خمارها یعنی جلدی کی وجہ سے اپنی اوڑھنی چھوڑ دی عجلت عنه کے معنی ہوتے ہیں اس کو چھوڑ دیا۔ مطلب یہ ہے کہ وہ جلدی سے دروازہ کھولنے کے لئے کپڑے پہن کر اوڑھنی اوڑھے بغیر آئیں۔ (ماخوذ از مرقات)۔
