Hadith 334

(1) The statement "Narrated by..." indicates that this hadith is found in the Musnad of Imam Abu Hanifa, and it is both a musnad and mursal hadith. The narrators of the book "Al-Athar" are trustworthy and well-known. Ma'bad, in this case, is a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, as stated in "Ihya’ al-Sunan". The hadith narrated by Al-Daraqutni, Al-Tabarani, Abdul Razzaq, Ibn Abi Shaybah, Ibn Adi, and Abu Dawood in their respective books mentions a man who asks the Prophet ﷺ about a situation in which a man has an interaction with a woman without physical intimacy but with improper touching. The Prophet ﷺ responded by ordering him to perform wudu and pray, and then the verse (11:114) was revealed: "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and during the night. Verily, good deeds wipe out evil deeds. That is a reminder for those who remember." The man asked if this ruling applied only to him or to all believers, and the Prophet ﷺ confirmed that it applied to all Muslims. This narration indicates that inappropriate physical contact (such as an improper touch) invalidates wudu, as mentioned by the scholar in "Al-Bada'i."

(۱) قوله: رواه: فهذا الحديث في مسند الإمام مسند ومرسل، ورجال كتاب الآثار» ثقات مشهورون. ومعبد هذا صحابي، قاله في إحياء السنن». وَرَوَى الدَّارَقُطْنِي وَالطَّبَرَانِي وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَابْنُ عَدِيٌّ وَأَبُوْ دَاوُدَ فِي مَرَاسِيْلِهِ نَحْوَهُ. وَرِجَالُ رِوَايَةِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحَيْنِ، كَذَا فِي نَصْبِ الرَّايَةِ».
