Abu Waqid Al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set out for Hunayn, he passed by a tree belonging to the idol-worshippers, where they hung their weapons, called Dhat Anwat. They said: “O Messenger of Allah, make for us a Dhat Anwat as they have a Dhat Anwat.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Glory be to Allah! This is like what the people of Moses said: Make for us a god just as they have gods. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you will follow the ways of those before you.”
