Abdullah ibn Hubaysh narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever cuts a sidr tree, Allah will plunge his head into the Fire.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud]. He said this hadith is abbreviated, meaning whoever cuts a sidr tree in a desert where travelers and animals seek its shade, unjustly without right, Allah will plunge his head into the Fire. .

Note 2
(2) “Cuts a sidr tree…”: The sidr’s shade is cooler, but the ruling applies to any tree providing shade for people or animals. The hadith is shaky, as its narrator Urwah cut sidr for doors, and scholars agree cutting it is permissible. [From Al-Marqah and Al-Luma‘at].
