English

Mu‘adhah al-‘Adawiyyah narrated that a woman asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "I found a lost item in the Haram and announced it but found no claimant." Aisha replied: "Use it for your needs." [Narrated by Tahawi] In another narration: "Its greenery may not be uprooted." Al-Abbas said: "O Messenger of Allah, except idhkhir, for it is used by goldsmiths and for homes." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Except idhkhir." In Abu Hurairah’s narration: "Its trees may not be cut."

Note 1

Except idhkhir

(1) The statement: "Except idhkhir"—This exception was either preempted by Al-Abbas or revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) to permit it. This is mentioned in (Al-‘Inayah).
