Chapter on the Etiquette of Using the Toilet

Zujajat al-Masabih 371Volume 1

English

And from Anas, it is reported that whenever the Prophet ﷺ entered the toilet, he would remove his ring. [Narrated by Abu Dawood, al-Nasa'i, and al-Tirmidhi] Tirmidhi said: "This hadith is a Hasan, Sahih and Gharib." Abu Dawood said: "This hadith is weak." Ibn Hajar said: "The confirmation by al-Tirmidhi indicates its authenticity according to him, which corrects the issue raised by Abu Dawood, and thus it can be considered valid." In Abu Dawood's narration, the verb "remove" was used instead of "take off."
