Abdul-Hamid ibn Jubayr ibn Shaybah narrated: “I sat with Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyab, and he told me that his grandfather Hazn came to the Prophet (ﷺ). He said, ‘What is your name?’ He said, ‘My name is Hazn.’ He said, ‘Rather, you are Sahl.’ He said, ‘I will not change a name my father gave me.’ Ibn al-Musayyab said, ‘So roughness remained with us afterward.’”
