English

Abu Sa‘id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us while we were discussing the Antichrist. He said: “Shall I not 1 inform you of what I fear for you more than the Antichrist?” We said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “Hidden polytheism, when a man prays and enhances his prayer because he sees someone watching.”

Note 1

Shall I not inform you

(1) His statement: “Shall I not inform you” – Al-Tayyibi said: “Shall I not” is not for alerting but is the negation “la” with the interrogative “a,” as indicated by their response “Yes.” The meaning is: “Shall I not teach you.” (As stated in Al-Mirqat)
