Mahmoud ibn Labid narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The thing I fear most for you is minor polytheism.” They asked: “O Messenger of Allah, what is minor polytheism?” He said: “Showing off.” Al-Bayhaqi added in Shu‘ab al-Iman: “Allah will say to them on the Day He rewards His servants for their deeds: ‘Go to those you showed off to in the world and see if you find any reward with them.’”
