Chapter on Resurrection

Zujajat al-Masabih 5322Volume 4

English

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection in three categories: pedestrians, riders, and those on their faces.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, how will they walk on their faces?” He said: “Indeed, the One who made them walk on their feet is capable of making them walk on their faces. 1 Indeed, they will ward off every ridge and thorn with their faces.”

Note 1

They will ward off every ridge and thorn with their faces

(1) His statement: “They will ward off every ridge and thorn with their faces”: This indicates their humiliation and necessity to use their faces instead of hands and feet to protect themselves from the harms of the path while moving toward their destination, because they did not make their faces prostrate to the One who created and shaped them. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)
