English
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered us to give charity, and I had wealth at the time. I said: Today I will outdo Abu Bakr if I ever outdo him. I brought half my wealth, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “What have you left for your family?” I said: “The same amount.” Abu Bakr came with all he had. He said to him: “O Abu Bakr, what have you left for your family?” He said: “I have left 1 for them Allah and His Messenger.” I said: “I will never outdo you in anything.”
