Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the consumer of riba, the payer of riba, the scribe who records it, and the witnesses to it, saying, "They are all alike in sin."

Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury
(1) The statement "Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury": The essence is that trade is an exchange of wealth for wealth, while riba linguistically means "increase." Trade is legislated for profit, but the Hadith clarified the prohibition: "Gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley, dates for dates, salt for salt—like for like, hand to hand. Any excess is riba." The Prophet (ﷺ) specified these six items, and scholars deduced the prohibition applies when:
The goods are of the same genus.
They are measured by weight or volume.
Exchanged hand-to-hand (not deferred).
Abu Hanifah (may Allah have mercy on him) held the prohibition applies to measurable quantities of the same genus. Ash-Shafi‘i (may Allah have mercy on him) restricted it to edibles and monetary items. Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) linked it to staple foods and storable commodities.

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the Prophet (ﷺ) curse the consumer of riba, the payer of riba, the scribe, and the withholder of charity. He also forbade wailing.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A time will come upon people when no one will remain except that they consume riba. If one does not consume it directly, its dust will reach them."

Abdullah ibn Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A dirham of riba knowingly consumed is worse than thirty-six acts of fornication." [Ahmad, Ad-Daraqutni]
Al-Bayhaqi added from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever grows flesh from unlawful earnings, the Fire is more deserving of him."
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Riba has seventy degrees of sin. The least is like a man committing incest with his mother."
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "On the Night Journey, I saw people with bellies like houses, filled with visible snakes. I asked, ‘Who are these, O Jibril?’ He replied, ‘They are the consumers of riba.’"
Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The last verse revealed was about riba, and the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away before explaining it fully. So avoid riba and doubtful transactions."
