Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah took the covenant from the back of Adam at Namaan (meaning Arafat) and He brought forth from his loins all his descendants, scattering them before him like grains of sand. Then He addressed them saying: 'Am I not your Lord?' They replied: 'Yes, indeed!' He said: 'Do not say on the Day of Resurrection: "We were unaware of this," or "Our forefathers before us associated others with You, and we were their descendants. Will You destroy us for what the wrongdoers did?"' (Surah Al-A'raf: 172-173)"
