On the authority of Umar bin Al-Khattab, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once led the Dhuhr prayer, and a man from among the people recited to himself. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Did anyone among you recite with me?" He repeated this three times, and the man replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, I was reciting سبح اسم ربك الأعلي." The Prophet ﷺ said: "Why do I find myself contending with the Qur'an? Is it not sufficient for one of you to rely on the recitation of his imam? Indeed, the imam is appointed to be followed, so when he recites, listen attentively."
