It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim. And placing knowledge in the hands of those who are not qualified to receive it is like placing pearls, jewels, and gold in the hands of pigs." This was narrated by Ibn Majah. Al-Bayhaqi also narrated it in "Shu’ab al-Iman," stating: "The text of this hadith is well known, but its chain of narration is weak. It has been narrated from various sources, all of which are weak."

٢٠٧ - وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، وَوَاضِعُ الْعِلْمِ عِنْدَ غَيْرِ أَهْلِهِ كَمُقَلَّدِ الْخَنَازِيرِ الْجَوَاهِرَ وَاللُّؤْلُؤَ وَالذَّهَبَ». رَوَاهُ ابْنُ مَاجَه. وَرَوَى البَيْهَقِيُّ فِي شُعَبِ الْإِيْمَانِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: «مُسْلِمٍ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثُ مَتْنُهُ مَشْهُورُ وَإِسْنَادُهُ ضَعِيفٌ، وَقَدْ رُوِيَ مِنْ أَوْجُهِ كُلُّهَا ضَعِيفٌ.

انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے
فرمایا: علم دین کی طلب ہر مسلمان پر فرض ہے اور نا اہل کو علم سکھانے والے کی مثال خنزیر کے گلے میں
جواہر موتیوں اور سونے کا مالا ڈالنے والے کی ہے (مثلاً عوام کے آگے تصوف وغیرہ کی باریکیاں بیان
کرنا، کیونکہ اس سے ان کے گمراہ ہوجانے کا اندیشہ ہے اور ایسا بے محل علم ان کے لئے سراسر ظلم
ہے) اس کی روایت ابن ماجہ نے کی ہے۔
اور بیہقی نے شعب الایمان میں صرف ”طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيْضَةٌ عَلٰى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ“ تک
