Abu Wa’il (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Khalid ibn al-Walid wrote to the people of Persia: "In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Khalid ibn al-Walid to Rustum, Mihran, and the nobles of Persia. Peace be upon those who follow guidance. To proceed: We invite you to Islam. If you refuse, then pay the jizyah in submission while you are humbled. I have with me people who love death in the way of Allah as much as the Persians love wine. Peace be upon those who follow guidance."
