Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do not cut meat with a knife, for that is the practice of non-Arabs; rather, tear it, as it is more wholesome and pleasant.” [Narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Bayhaqi in “Shu’ab al-Iman”]
In “Al-Mirqat,” this means not to make cutting with a knife your habit like non-Arabs; tear it 1 if it is cooked, but if it is not, cut it with a knife.
