٤٢٧٩ - وَعَنِ ابْنِ الْخُنْظَلِيَّةِ رَجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صلي الله عليه واله وسلم قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلي الله عليه واله وسلم نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ خُرَيْمُ الْأَسَدِيُّ لَوْلَا طُولُ جُمَّتِهِ وَإِسْبَالُ إِزَارِه)، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ خُرَيْمًا فَأَخَذَ شَفْرَةًفَقَطَعَ 1 بِهَا جُمَّتَهُ إِلَى أُذْنَيْهِ، وَرَفَعَ إِزَارَه إِلَى أَنْصَافٍ سَاقَيْهِ. رَوَاهُ أَبُوْ دَاوُدَ.

(1) The statement: "cut his forelock to his ears": It is stated in Sharh al-Sunnah: This indicates the permissibility of cutting the forelock to the ears for men. As for women, they let their hair down and do not adopt a forelock. Thus, it is stated in Al-Mirqat.
