Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "From the happiness of the son of Adam is his contentment with what Allah has decreed for him, and from the misery of the son of Adam is his abandonment of seeking Allah's guidance, and from the misery of the son of Adam is his displeasure with what Allah has decreed for him."

٥٠٨٧ - وَعَنْ سَعْدٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ ﷺ : مِنْ سَعَادَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ رِضَاهُ بِمَا قَضَى اللَّهُ لَهُ، وَمِنْ شَقَاوَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ تَرْكُهُ اسْتِخَارَةَ اللهِ، وَمِنْ شَقَاوَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ سَخَطُهُ بِمَا قَضَى اللَّهُ لَهُ». رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالتَّرْمِذِيُّ .

سیدنا سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے
فرمایا: آدمی کی نیک بختی سے ہے اس کا اس بات پر راضی رہنا کہ جس کا اللہ نے اس کے لئے فیصلہ
کر دیا اور آدمی کی بدبختی سے ہے اس کا اللہ سے خیر طلب کرنے کو چھوڑ دینا اور انسان کی بدبختی سے
ہے اس کا اس بات سے ناراض ہونا جس کا اللہ نے اس کے لئے فیصلہ کر دیا ہے۔ (احمد، ترمذی)۔
