Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The people of Paradise will look up at the people of the lofty chambers above them, as you look at a brilliant star 1 fading on the horizon in the East or West, due to the difference 2 between them.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, are those the stations of the prophets that none but they attain?” He said, “No, by the One in Whose Hand is my soul, they are men who believed in Allah and affirmed the messengers.”

٥٤١٩ - وَعَنْهُ (رضي الله عنه) أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ يَتَرَاءَوْنَ أَهْلَ الْغُرَفِ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ، كَمَا يَتَرَاءَوْنَ الْكَوْكَبَ 1 الدُّرِّيَّ الْغَابِرَ فِي الْأُفُقِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ أَوْ الْمَغْرِبِ لِتَفَاضُلِ2 مَا بَيْنَهُمْ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ! تِلْكَ مَنَازِلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ لَا يَبْلُغُهَا غَيْرُهُمْ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ رِجَالٌ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَصَدَّقُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ». مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

انہی سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد
فرمایا کہ اہل جنت بالا خانے میں رہنے والوں کو باہمی فضیلت 2 میں تفاوت کی وجہ سے اپنے اوپر
ایسا دیکھیں گے جیسا کہ تم مشرق و مغرب کے افق میں ٹھہرے ہوئے روشن تاروں 3 کو دیکھتے ہو،
صحابہ کرام نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! وہ تو انبیاء کرام کے درجے ہوں گے دوسرے
اس تک نہیں پہنچ سکتے؟ حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کیوں نہیں اس ذات کی قسم جس
کے قبضہ قدرت میں میری جان ہے! ان درجات کو وہ لوگ حاصل کریں گے جو اللہ تعالیٰ پر
ایمان لائے اور پیغمبروں کی تصدیق کئے۔ (بخاری و مسلم)۔

(1) His statement: “a brilliant star fading on the horizon”: Al-Tayyibi said: If you ask what is the purpose of specifying the star as brilliant and then fading on the horizon, I say: It indicates that this is an analogy. The resemblance is drawn from several imagined aspects in the likened object: the sight of one in Paradise seeing the occupant of the chamber is like seeing a brilliant star remaining on the eastern or western horizon in its radiance despite the distance.

(2) His statement: “due to the difference between them”: This is the reason for the sighting, meaning it is due to the increasing ranks between the general people of Paradise and those in the lofty chambers. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

(۱) قوله: الكوكب الدري الغابر في الأفق إلخ : قال الطيبي الله: فإن قلت: ما فائدة تقييد الكوكب بالدري، ثم بالغابر في الأفق؟ قلت: للإيذان بأنه من باب التمثيل الذي وجهه منتزع من عدة أمور متوهمة في المشبه شبه رؤية الرائي في الجنة صاحب الغرفة برؤية الرائي الكوكب المستضيء الباقي من باب الشرق أو الغرب في الاستضاءة مع البعد.
