Al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I asked Aisha, “What did the Prophet (ﷺ) do 1 in his house?” She said: “He was engaged in the service of his household, meaning assisting his family. When the time for prayer arrived, he would go out to the prayer.”

٥٦٠١ - وَعَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَة مَا كَانَ1 النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ فِي بَيْتِهِ؟ قَالَتْ: كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي مِهْنَةِ أَهْلِهِ - تَعْنِي خِدْمَةَ أَهْلِهِ - فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ.

حضرت اسود سے روایت ہے، میں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا
سے پوچھا: حضرت نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا اپنے دولت کدہ پر کیا عمل رہتا(31)؟ تو انہوں نے فرمایا
کہ آپ اپنے اہل خانہ کی کام میں مدد فرماتے، پھر جب نماز کا وقت آتا تو نماز کی طرف تشریف
لے جاتے۔ (بخاری)۔

(1) Her statement: “What did the Prophet (ﷺ) do”: “What” is a question word. Her statement: “He was engaged in the service of his household”: meaning he continued to be occupied with the needs of his family, with an open mim and optional kasra or sukun on the ha, meaning the affairs of his household. “Service” implies assistance and humility, emphasizing his role akin to that of men. Hence, the narrator said: “meaning assisting his family.” Her statement: “When the time for prayer arrived, he would go out to the prayer”: meaning he left all his tasks, as if he did not recognize anyone from his household. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

(۱) قوله : ما كان النبي ﷺ: «ما» استفهامية. وقوله: «قالت كان من عادته يكون» أي يستمر مشتغلا في مهنة أهله بفتح الميم وتكسر وبسكون الهاء، أي مصالح عياله، والمهنة الخدمة والابتذال، ففيه مبالغة لقيامه مقام الرجال، ولهذا قال الراوي: تعني خدمة أهله». وقوله: «فإذا حضرت الصلاة خرج إلى الصلاة أي وترك جميع عمله، وكأنه لم يعرف أحدا من أهله. كذا في «المرقاة».

(31) قوله: ما كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم (نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا کیا عمل رہتا) ”ما“ سوال کے لئے ہے، قولہ قالت کان یعنی آپ کی یہ عادت مسلسل تھی اہل خانہ کی مدد میں مصروف رہتے، مهنه میں میم کے فتحہ اور کسرہ اور ھاء کے جزم سے یعنی اہل و عیال کی ضرورتیں۔ مهنة خدمت اور خرچ کرنے کو کہتے ہیں۔ اسی لئے راوی نے کہا حضرت عائشہ اسی اہل و عیال کا کام بنانا مراد لیتی ہیں اور آپ کا قول ”جب نماز کا وقت آتا تو نماز کے لئے نکلتے“ تو تمام دوسرے اعمال ترک فرماتے گویا آپ اپنے اہل کو پہچانتے ہی نہیں۔ (مرقات)۔
