Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the people of Makkah asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to show them a sign, so he showed them the moon split in two, such that they saw Hira between them.

٥٦٢٤ - وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ (رضي الله عنه) قَالَ: إِنَّ أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ سَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُرِيَهُمْ آيَةً1 فَأَرَاهُمُ الْقَمَرَ شِقَتَيْنِ حَتَّى رَأَوْا حِرَاءً بَيْنَهُمَا. مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے فرمایا کہ اہل مکہ نے رسول اللہ
صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مطالبہ کیا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان کو ایک نشانی دکھائیں(6) تو آپ نے
ان کو دکھایا کہ چاند دو ٹکڑے ہو گیا یہاں تک کہ جبل حرا ان دونوں کے درمیان ہو گیا۔(متفق علیہ)۔
