Chapter on the Virtues of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)

Zujajat al-Masabih 5789Volume 5

English

Jubair ibn Mut‘im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a woman came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and spoke to him about something, and he told her to return. She said: “O Messenger of Allah, what if I come and do not find you?” as if referring to his departure. He said: “If you do not find me, go to 1 Abu Bakr.”

Note 1

go to Abu Bakr

(1) His statement “go to Abu Bakr”: meaning he is my successor absolutely, or consult him in this matter. The first is more evident. An-Nawawi said: It is not an explicit text for his caliphate but a prophecy of the unseen that Allah informed him of. (As stated in Al-Mirqat)

Note 1
