English
Abdul-Muttalib ibn Rabi’ah narrated: Al-Abbas entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) angrily while I was with him. He said: “What has angered you?” He said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is it with us and Quraysh? When they meet each other, they meet with cheerful faces, but when they meet us, they meet us otherwise.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) became angry until his face reddened, then said: “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, faith does not enter a man’s heart until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger.” Then he said: “O people, whoever harms my uncle has harmed me, for a man’s uncle is like 1 his father.” [Narrated by At-Tirmidhi]
In Al-Masabih, it is attributed to Al-Muttalib. In Al-Mirqat, it is said: What is mentioned in Al-Masabih is a mistake and an error, and no narration from him reached the people of Hadith.
