It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A man's prayer in congregation is twenty-five times greater than his prayer at home or in the market. This is because when he performs ablution and perfects it, then goes to the mosque, with no purpose other than prayer, he does not take a single step except that he is raised a degree and a sin is removed from him. When he prays, the angels continue to pray for him as long as he remains in his place of prayer: 'O Allah, bless him, O Allah, have mercy on him.' And one of you remains in prayer as long as he is waiting for the prayer." In another narration, it adds: "When one of you enters the mosque, the prayer holds him... and the angels' supplication includes: 'O Allah, forgive him, O Allah, accept his repentance,' as long as he does not harm anyone or commit any sin."
