Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite in the first two Rak‘ahs of Dhuhr with Surah al-Fatihah and another Surah, and in the last two Rak‘ahs with only Surah al-Fatihah. Sometimes, he would make us hear a verse, and he would prolong the first Rak‘ah more than the second. He did the same in ‘Asr and Fajr."
