Chapter on Supplication in Tashahhud

Zujajat al-Masabih 1311Volume 1

English

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to turn to his right and say, 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah,' until the whiteness of his right cheek could be seen, and to his left, 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah,' until the whiteness of his left cheek could be seen." [Narrated by Abu Dawud, Al-Nasa’i, and Al-Tirmidhi, though Al-Tirmidhi did not mention, "until the whiteness of his cheek could be seen."] Ibn Majah also narrated it from Ammar ibn Yasir. Al-Tirmidhi said: "The most authentic narrations from the Prophet (peace be upon him) are two Salam, and this is the view of the majority of the scholars among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Tabi'in, and those after them."
