Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If something happens to someone during prayer, let them say 'Subhan Allah,' for clapping is for women." In another narration: "Tasbeeh (saying سبحان الله') is for men, and clapping is for women."
