Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "He slept near the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) woke up, used the toothstick, performed ablution, and recited: 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...' (Quran 3:190) until he finished the verse. Then he stood and prayed two rak'ahs, prolonging the standing, bowing, and prostration. Then he went back to sleep until he snored. He did this three times, praying six rak'ahs, each time using the toothstick, performing ablution, and reciting those verses. Then he prayed Witr with three rak'ahs." [Narrated by Muslim]
In a narration by Abu Dawud: "Then he prayed Witr, and Bilal came to inform him of the prayer when dawn appeared. He prayed the two rak'ahs of Fajr, then went out to lead the prayer."
In a narration by Bukhari and Muslim: "In his supplication, he would say: 'O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, and grant me light.'" Some added: "Light on my tongue," and mentioned: "Light in my nerves, flesh, blood, hair, and skin." In another narration by them: "Place light in my soul and increase light for me." In another narration by Muslim: "O Allah, grant me light."
