English
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I prayed Zuhr with the Prophet (ﷺ) during travel as two rak’ahs, followed by two rak’ahs (voluntary)." 1
In another narration: "He said: ‘I prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ) both at home and during travel. At home, I prayed Zuhr with him as four rak’ahs followed by two voluntary rak’ahs. During travel, Zuhr was two rak’ahs followed by two voluntary rak’ahs. Asr was two rak’ahs with no voluntary prayers after. Maghrib was three rak’ahs in both residence and travel, never reduced, as it is the Witr of the day, followed by two voluntary rak’ahs.’"

Note 1
(1) In Al-Durr Al-Mukhtar: A traveler may perform voluntary prayers (Sunnah) if in a state of safety and stability. If in fear or fleeing, it is preferred to omit them, as this omission is permitted due to valid excuse.
