Amir al-Ram (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned illnesses and said: "When a believer is afflicted with an illness and then Allah restores him to health, it serves as an expiation for his past sins and a reminder for him in the future. As for the hypocrite, when he falls ill and then recovers, he is like a camel that its owners tie and then release, and it does not know why it was tied or why it was released." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are illnesses? By Allah, I have never been ill." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Leave us, for you are not one of us"
