Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) also reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) would say when evening came: "We have entered evening and all sovereignty belongs to Allah. There is no god but Allah alone with no partner. To Him belongs the dominion and praise, and He has power over all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and what follows it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and what follows it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness, bad old age and disbelief." In another narration: "From bad pride and old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the Fire and the punishment of the grave." When morning came, he would say the same, replacing "evening" with "morning."
