Abu Tasmah al-Azdi narrated from his paternal cousin, one of the Prophet’s companions (ﷺ): He came to Muawiya and entered upon him, saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Whoever is entrusted with any matter of the people and then closes his door to the poor, the oppressed, or those in need, Allah will close the gates of His mercy to him when he is in need, in poverty, and most in need of it.
