Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: While the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was walking, a man came with a donkey and said: "O Messenger of Allah, ride." The man stepped back, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "1 No, you are more entitled to the front of your animal unless you assign it to me." He said: "I assign it to you." So he rode.

Note 1

No, you are more entitled to the front of your animal, etc.

(1) The statement: "No, you are more entitled to the front of your animal, etc.": This shows the justice, humility, and upholding of rights by the Messenger of Allah, as he accepted riding behind him and did not rely on the man’s apparent consent. As stated in (Al-Mirqat). In (Badhl al-Majhud): He said this to highlight the issue, even though the man had offered the front of his animal.
