Ka‘b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (ﷺ) would not return from a journey except during the day, in the forenoon. When he arrived, he would begin at the mosque, pray two rak‘ahs, and then sit there. [Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim] At-Tabarani narrated from Miqdam ibn Maqdam that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "No one leaves behind with his family anything better than two rak‘ahs he prays with them when intending to travel."
