Note 3
(3) The statement: but as for silk markings or the warp of a garment, there is no harm in it: It is said in Al-Hidayah: There is no harm in wearing a garment whose warp is silk and whose weft is not silk, such as cotton or khazz, in war or otherwise, because the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to wear khazz, and khazz is woven with silk warp. This is because a garment becomes a garment through weaving, and weaving is done with the weft, so it is the weft that is considered, not the warp.
