Sa’id bin Abi Al-Hasan narrated: I was with Ibn Abbas when a man came and said: O Ibn Abbas, I earn my living through my craft, making these images. Ibn Abbas said: I will only tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I heard him say: Whoever makes an image, Allah will punish him until he breathes life into it, which he will never do. The man was greatly distressed, and his face turned pale. Ibn Abbas said: Woe to you, if you must make them, then depict trees and things without souls .
