Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Avoid sitting in the streets.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, we have no choice but to sit in our gatherings and converse.” He said, “If you insist on sitting, then give the street its rights.” They said, “What are the rights of the street, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Lowering the gaze, refraining from harm, returning the greeting of peace, enjoining good, and forbidding evil.”
