Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) “when he rested at night, would lie 1 on his right side, and when he rested shortly before dawn, he would prop up his arm and place his head on his palm.”

٤٥٤٧ - وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ (رضي الله عنه)أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ وَ كَانَ إِذَا عَرَّسَ بِلَيْلٍ اضْطَجَعَ1 عَلَى شقَّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، وَإِذَا عَرَّسَ قُبَيْلَ الصُّبْحِ نَصَبَ ذِرَاعَهُ وَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ عَلَى كَفِّهِ. رَوَاهُ فِي شَرْحِ السُّنَّةِ».

سیدنا ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (سفر کے
دوران) جب رات کے آخر حصہ میں کہیں رکتے تو اپنی سیدھی1 کروٹ پر لیٹ جاتے اور جب رات کے آخری
حصہ میں فجر سے کچھ پہلے رکتے تو اپنا دست مبارک کھڑا کرتے اور اپنا سر ہتھیلی پر رکھتے تھے۔ (شرح السنہ)۔
